Live Well, a new approach to help residents access the right support at the right time, close to where they live.
What is Bolton Live Well?
Recognising the challenges facing residents across Bolton are often connected, Live Well brings together community groups, public services and local partners to provide joined-up support in one place. Our approach focuses on prevention, strengthening community networks, and shaping services around the real lives of local people rather than expecting residents to navigate different organisations and services.
With funding from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), Bolton is piloting the Live Well approach in Breightmet before expanding across Bolton East and the wider borough. In October 2026, we launched our first Live Well Centre at Breightmet Library, a dedicated space for residents to access friendly, face‑to‑face help, and information from financial and housing advice to jobs and skills support and health and wellbeing services.
Our ambition is that, within the next five years, Live Well will be a visible part of every community in Bolton, helping residents access the support, opportunities and connections they need to live well.

Live Well funding
As part of our Live Well ambitions funding is now available through the Live Well Implementation Fund to support local voluntary and community organisations to contribute to our ambitions and make a difference to the lives of Bolton residents.
There is a commitment that at least 50% of Bolton’s Live Well budget will be routed through the VCFSE sector. Whether you have a new project or an existing service you think would support residents in Bolton to live healthier and happier lives, funding is available to support your work.
More information, including opportunities to access support and funding, will be shared here soon. Please check back here for the latest updates.
