The Digital, Employment and Skills (DES) team provide a range of opportunities for residents:
- Sessions to help people build confidence, improve job skills, and develop basic digital skills
- Initial digital skills check, with guidance to further learning opportunities
- A tailored programme for men focused on digital skills, confidence, and employment support
- Learning designed specifically for people who speak English as a second language (ESOL)

Connexions Careers Service
Impartial careers advice and guidance for young people aged 13–19 (up to 25 for those with an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) or care experienced).

Building Bolton's Futures – Be One Homes (Borough wide offer for Bolton Residents)
Offer an 8-week voluntary placement with tailored one-to-one support, including CV development, interview preparation, confidence and life skills development, job search support and practical assistance such as PPE, tools, replacement ID, working clothing, and driving licence help. Participants can also access accredited training, including Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) Level 1 Health & Safety and Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
Successful completion of the programme provides access to guaranteed interviews for four-month paid placements in construction and administration, with roles paid at the Real Living Wage.

Community Navigator
Residents will be paired with a dedicated connector in their local area who offers tailored one-to-one advice, guidance and encouragement to help overcome barriers such as health issues, skills gaps, low confidence or caring responsibilities.

Construction Pathways to Employment – Skills Construction Centre
Person-centred training programmes are designed to develop core skills, technical ability, and confidence, including those already in work or volunteering. Support includes upskilling, apprenticeships, employer-led courses and tailored pathways into employment, further study or career progression.

- Connect Her
A transformative 6-week programme designed to empower women by deepening their digital skills and self-awareness. Each participant receives their own Chromebook and is trained in essential digital competencies, mental resilience, and structured online learning.
- Mental Health & Resilience Training
CPD-accredited mental resilience course: The Personal Power and Pride Programme, which includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes training to support wellbeing, self-awareness, and confidence. Upon completion this will lead to a qualification in Managing Mental Health & Building Resilience.

Annual Bee Bus Ticket
The SoundPound Group has partnered with TfGM to bring a new, affordable way of paying for annual bus travel in Greater Manchester.
The new Annual Bee Bus Ticket is £800 for bus travel across the city region all year. This represents a saving of 23% or £240 compared to a seven or 28-day bus ticket over the course of a year and your credit union can help you pay.
Here’s what you need to know:
- You can apply to your local Greater Manchester credit union for the Annual Bee Bus Ticket Loan and spread the cost over the year
