The Department for Work and Pensions introduced the Household Support Fund (HSF) in October 2021.  The HSF has now been extended to 31st March 2023. We have been awarded £2.78 million and will be using it to provide a range of services.

Household Support

If you need help with food, gas, electric or household goods, you can apply for Local Welfare Provision.

You do not need to receive benefits to apply for this help.

We will check your identity, that you live in Bolton and what your income and expenses are. This information helps us to work out if you need help from Local Welfare Provision.

Children eligible for Free School Meals (FSM)

Families already receiving FSM or who meet the criteria for FSM but have pre school age children, will get help during the holiday periods.

You do not need to apply, vouchers will automatically be sent to you.

Help for people who have reached State Pension Age

If you have received a Post Office cash out voucher in October 2022, do not delay in claiming your payment. You only have until the 31st December 2022 to take the voucher and proof of your identity to any Post Office branch to claim your payment.

If you have any queries regarding the voucher, contact evouchers on 01204 208010 or by email support@evouchers.com.

Help for people who are working age

If you are working age and receive Employment Support Allowance Income Related or have a disability premium in your Housing Benefit or Council Tax Support award, we are providing additional help.

If you are eligible, there is no need to apply. We will send you a £30 Supermarket voucher during February 2023 automatically. It is one voucher per qualifying household. You will need to redeem the voucher by 16th April 2023.

If you need help with fuel or food now, you can apply for Local Welfare provision.

Community Support

The Household Support Fund is also being used to provide grants to a range of community-based organisations via Bolton’s Fund (Bolton CVS).  These organisations will be providing a range of support across the Borough to residents in financial need.
