New guidance has been issued to protect the most vulnerable people against COVID19. As a responsible employer, with many employees, this guidance has affected the number of staff we have available.

We are working hard to collect your waste but we regret that we have had to make some changes at this present moment in time.

At this stage, priority will be given to the collection of grey bins, food waste containers and green bins. Recycling bins will be emptied where possible so please continue to present all bins on the appropriate collection day.  Unfortunately, we are unable to collect side waste at this time.  We trust you understand the need for us to focus our resources, and we ask residents to please put any excess waste into the bin after it has been collected and look to reduce the amount of waste they create as much as possible.

If your bins are not emptied on your usual collection day, please check the Has your bin been missed? page for updates.  If your street is not listed on that page, then please return your bins to your property until your next scheduled collection day, as we will not be able to return on this occasion.

Please remember to:

  • Flatten cardboard to make space in your beige bin
  • Squash food and drink cans and plastic bottles to make space in your burgundy bin
  • Visit www.lovefooodhatewaste.com for information on how to store your food and reduce waste

On your collection day please ensure

  • Your bin is out for collection between 7:30am and 6pm
  • The lid is closed. We will not collect waste from the side of your bin
  • Vehicles are parked responsibly to allow access for our collection vehicle
  • Your bin is brought back onto your property after collection

Please continue to check the website for further updates.

The welfare of our staff alongside the welfare and needs of our residents are uppermost in our minds and we thank you for your patience during this difficult time for everybody.

Current advice for cleaning and disposal of waste from affected households if you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19)

Make sure you double-bag your grey bin rubbish – especially personal waste such as used tissues and disposable cleaning cloths.

Rubbish bags should be placed into a second bag, tied securely and kept separate from other waste in the room in which you are self- isolating.  Keep aside for at least 72 hours before putting into your usual external household grey waste bin.
