Staff have scooped another top national award for working together to help residents improve recycling.

Staff have scooped another top national award for working together to help residents improve recycling.

The council collected the Best Partnership Award at the LARAC Celebration Awards held yesterday (October 10) at the East Midlands Conference Centre.

Bolton came out on top ahead of Cheshire West and Chester Council, and Durham County Council.

Now in its 10th year, the annual event recognises the achievements and hard work of council recycling officers, colleagues and partners over the past 12 months.

Cllr Nick Peel, Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “It is brilliant that once again the hard work of our waste and recycling team has been recognised in the form of a national award.

The waste and recycling team work closely with staff from neighbourhood services to proactively address issues in streets where people are struggling with recycling.

Both teams carry out targeted days of actions in neighbourhoods throughout the year to offer advice and help to residents.

Cllr Nick Peel, Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said: “It is brilliant that once again the hard work of our waste and recycling team has been recognised in the form of a national award.

“This is a well-deserved award for both them and staff in neighbourhood services who work so closely together to help and support residents to manage their waste effectively.

“We understand that some people struggle and need help, and when our staff carry out days of action they really make a difference.”

The council's waste management and recycling team also won the ‘Service Team of the Year’ at this year’s APSE awards, held in September.
