Spring is just around the corner and many of us are looking forward to getting outdoors and tidying up our gardens.
This may mean more garden waste, but the good news is all households in Bolton are able to order an extra green bin.
The council introduced an extra green bin annual subscription service last year with many residents signing up to the service.
Residents have the option of a second 240 litre green bin which will be charged at £37.50, and the subscription will run to the end of March 2027.
In addition, for the first subscription year only, there is a one-off payment of £35 which covers administration, setup, and delivery costs.
Anyone who signed up last year will shortly receive an email where they can sign up for a further 12 months.
Key points;
- Extra garden waste bins will be emptied every fortnight, on the same day as the first, free garden waste bin.
- Along with the rest of your recycling and waste containers, extra bins remain the property of Bolton Council.
- Extra bins will be stickered, so they are identifiable.
- Extra bins are only available for garden waste (green) bins.
- Food waste is not permitted in your extra bin
- During busy periods, your bin delivery could take up to 4-6 weeks.
Cllr Richard Silvester, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said:
“Many residents took up this service last year and it’s of great value for keen gardeners and those who find they fill their green bins quickly.
“An extra green bin removes the need to get rid of your garden waste at the local waste and recycling centre – saving time and hassle.”
