Just in time for the summer, residents are now able to order a second green bin for their garden waste.
The council has introduced an additional green bin annual subscription service for households across Bolton.
Residents have the option of a second 240 litre green bin which will be charged at £37.50, and the subscription will run to the end of March 2026.
From April 2026, the annual subscription fee will be £45.
In addition, for the first subscription year only, there is a one-off payment of £35 which covers administration, setup, and delivery costs.
Key points:
- Extra garden waste bins will be emptied every fortnight, on the same day as the first, free garden waste bin.
- Along with the rest of your recycling and waste containers, additional bins remain the property of Bolton Council.
- Additional bins will be stickered, so they are identifiable.
- Additional bins are only available for garden waste (green) bins.
- Food waste is not permitted in your additional bin
- During busy periods, your bin delivery could take up to 4-6 weeks.
Cllr Richard Silvester, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, said:
“This additional service is good value for money and will benefit keen gardeners and those who find they fill their green bins quickly.
“It will mean those with a lot of garden waste will no longer have to take trips to the local waste and recycling centre – saving time and hassle.”
