Structures, sheds and greenhouses

Sheds, greenhouses, polytunnels and any other garden structures may only be installed with prior written consent from the Council. Only structures that are appropriate and typically associated with allotment use will be considered. All structures remain the sole responsibility of the tenant. You are required to keep them in good repair and in a safe condition at all times. Should a structure deteriorate, become unsafe or fall into disrepair, you will be required to repair, improve or remove it.

The Council reserves the right to require the removal of any structure considered unsuitable or non-compliant. Removal will be at the tenant’s expense. Where the Council is required to remove a structure, the full cost of removal may be recovered from the tenant.

Please note that the Council’s right of entry extends to all sheds and other structures on your plot.

Use of Sheds and Structures

You are advised not to leave tools or other valuable items on site, particularly where they are visible.

Flammable materials, chemicals or fuel should not be stored in sheds or structures, as this may increase the risk of arson.

Any contents left within sheds or other structures are entirely at the tenant’s risk. The Council accepts no liability for items that are lost, stolen or damaged.

Please refer to the Allotment Guide here, which advises on structure dimensions.
