A summary of services open over the Easter Bank Holiday.

Bolton Council services

Waste and recycling

Waste and recycling services will continue to operate on bank holidays, and collections will take place as normal on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Check your next scheduled collection dates online by visiting: https://www.bolton.gov.uk/next-bin-collection

We are continuing to empty as many bins as possible, with priority being given to the collection of grey bins, green bins and food waste containers.

Please continue to present your recycling bins on the scheduled day of collection. If your bin is not emptied then please check the Has your bin been missed? web page for updates.

Thank you for your understanding at this time.

Emergency helpline

If you are struggling because you need to stay at home and have no family or friends to support you, with shopping or other help, help is available through the council’s Response Hub, which has been set up by the council and partners.

The number will be open on Good Friday 10am-4pm; Easter Saturday 9am-1.30pm; and Easter Monday 10am-4pm.

We will talk to you about your most urgent needs such as food, medicine or other requirements.

Alternatively, tell us about any help you need using the online form and we'll arrange for someone to call you back within 24 hours.

Telephone appointments can be booked by calling the Contact Centre on 01204 331185 where we will be available to register deaths on:

Good Friday  10am – 4pm
Easter Saturday  9am – 1.30pm
Easter Sunday  CLOSED
Easter Monday  10am – 4pm

Health services

GP practices

Our GP practices will be operating core hours on Good Friday and Easter Monday (8am to 6.30pm). Practices are working differently at this time and cannot accept patients who turn up without speaking to them on the phone first.

Check your practice website to see how they are operating and telephone them if you need to speak to someone. If you are experiencing coronavirus symptoms, such as a new continuous cough and/or a high temperature DO NOT go to your GP practice, A&E or a pharmacy. Use the online NHS 111 service: www.111.nhs.uk/covid-19

Pharmacies

Local pharmacies will be open over the weekend. Some may be open for longer but all community pharmacies should be open at least from 2pm-5pm on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

If you are experiencing coronavirus symptoms please do not go to a pharmacy. Use the online NHS 111 service: www.111.nhs.uk/covid-19

Bolton at Home

Bolton at Home will continue to deliver essential services during the weekend. Tenants can still report emergency repairs and Careline and Concierge services will operate as normal.

  • Emergency repairs will be carried out responsibly to reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus. Report an emergency repair on 01204 328000.
  • Careline remains on hand for urgent assistance. Our community alarm call handling service will continue to run as normal, 24 hours a day, as will our emergency mobile response service as long as this can be done safely.
  • Concierge will continue to support communities 24 hours a day. These services include communal door access control, CCTV monitoring and an out-of-hours response to incidents of antisocial behaviour

Transport

Bank Holiday bus changes

Most bus, rail and tram services across Greater Manchester are operating to a reduced frequency at the moment.

Due to staff availability, bus operators will be running fewer services over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

The bus services most affected by these changes are those running before 8am or after 8pm. Some services on less busy routes have been withdrawn entirely.

Check the Transport for Greater Manchester website, or call 0161 244 1000 between 7am and 6pm Good Friday and Easter Monday, and 7am – 8pm on Saturday and Sunday.
