Sign up to be a Community Champion

Staff are being urged to sign up to the programme and help share factual information about COVID-19 amongst your communities.

This could be the area where you live, an online group of friends or your workplace.

As a Community Champion you will:

• Be a trusted and respected member of your community

• Have a passion for helping others

• Share up-to-date, accurate information in your local area

• Feed back concerns from your community to us

• Tell people about local support services

• Be fully supported and trained

So if you live or work in Bolton you could be an important part of the fight against COVID-19 and help our town to recover and build back stronger.

Vaccination bus

The latest stops have been announced by NHS Bolton CCG for the Covid-19 vaccination bus. It will be at:

  • Makkah Mosque, Grecian Crescent, Great Lever, Friday April 20,10am-noon – women only
  • Makkah Mosque, Grecian Crescent, Great Lever, Friday April 20, 1pm-5pm

Current criteria for the Covid-19 vaccination bus is:

  • Anyone aged 42 and over
  • Over 30s who are also carers, been shielding or have a long-term health condition

The vaccination bus has wheelchair access and is for first doses only. No appointment is needed. As it uses Astra Zeneca, it is not suitable for anyone under the age of 30.

The Bolton vaccination bus has vaccinated hundreds of people since launching two weeks ago.

Westhoughton library re-opens

After essential maintenance work Westhoughton Library re-opened today, Thursday April 29 2021.

There are Covid safety precautions including floor markings and hand sanitiser in place.

Opening times will be:

Monday 9:00am - 5:30pm

Tuesday 9:00am - 7:00pm

Wednesday Closed

Thursday 9:00am - 7:00pm

Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm 

Saturday 9:00am - 5:00pm

Sunday - Closed

You can still access your library account to reserve books online and collect from any library and also access a wide range of free eBooks, eAudio books and eMagazines by visiting on the library service on the council website. 

School library service books delivery and the home library service will also continue for residents who are unable to leave their homes.

EU Settlement Scheme

There are less than 100 days to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme.

If you’re an EU citizen living in the UK you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after June 30 2021.

Improvement works to Bolton Town Hall

Bolton Council is carrying out some precautionary maintenance work to Bolton Town Hall.

It is an opportune time to carry out this work as the majority of our office-based staff are working from home in line with the government’s COVID guidelines.

This means that disruption of council services will be kept to a minimum.

Final few days to have your say on enhanced cycle lanes across Bolton

Residents and businesses have until Sunday to have their say on travel across Bolton.

Modifications to some cycles lanes were introduced as a temporary measure to encourage people to engage in active travel especially with the safe distancing rules in the current pandemic.

Public consultation on the schemes is open until Sunday May 2 2021.

Bolton’s Fund: Still time to bid for youth-led climate projects

There is still time for young people across Bolton to win funding for their own climate project to help make the borough cleaner and greener.

As part of Bolton’s ongoing commitment to tackle climate change, Bolton’s Fund has set aside £5,000 to help young people to make a difference in their community.

Residents aged 13 to 21 now have until May 21 to share their idea for a £500 climate project.
