Subscribe for an Extra Green Bin! 

Produce more garden waste than one bin can hold? Our annual subscription service allows eligible households to add a second (or more) 240L green bin for convenient home recycling.
 

Who can subscribe?

This service is only available to households that are entitled to receive a fortnightly food and garden waste collection as part of their standard service. 
 

What’s included? 

  • A 240L green bin for garden waste (grass cuttings, leaves, plants, small branches, weeds) 

  • Fortnightly collections alongside your usual food and garden waste service 

  • A 12‑month subscription covering 1 April to 31 March (collections are suspended over Christmas and New Year)
     

Costs 

  • One‑off set‑up fee: £35 (Charged in the first year only to cover administration and delivery costs) 

  • Annual subscription fee: £37.50 (Price held until 31 March 2027)

Subscription period 

Your subscription runs from: 1 April – 31 March each year 

Renew annually to continue your collections.

Extra green bin subscription
 

Types of waste that are allowed in the bin are as follows. These items should be loose (not bagged): 

  • Flowers and plants
  • Leaves from the garden
  • Grass cuttings and hedge clippings
  • Twigs and small branches
  • Hay and straw pet bedding (eg rabbits and guinea pigs)

Types of waste that are not allowed in the bin are items such as: 

  • Food waste
  • Liquids – milk, cooking oils, etc 
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic food packaging
  • Glass
  • Rubble
  • Turf and ash
  • Soil and stone
  • Dog and cat faeces
  • Cat litter 

In addition to the items listed, we will not empty green bins that contain rubbish and recycling meant for other bin types.

For operational reasons, the service is only available for properties that currently have standard-sized 240L green wheeled bins.
