Elizabeth Park

Bolton Council has confirmed that a new green space in the town centre will be officially named Elizabeth Park in memory of the Queen.

Council leaders pay tribute

The Mayor of Bolton Cllr Akhtar Zaman, said:

"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and I know that my sadness will be shared across Bolton.

"Our late Sovereign was our longest-reigning Monarch and gave a lifetime of service to the people of the country."

The Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Martyn Cox, said:

"In memory of a beloved Queen who served her people with distinction for more than 70 years.

"She quite simply gave her all.

"God bless you, Maam."
