A law firm has been given the all-clear to reopen its town centre offices after an inspection by Bolton Council Environmental Health officers.

Accident Injury Solicitors were ordered to shut their Blackburn Road premises on September 11 after the council became aware of breaches of COVID-19 workplace regulations.

On investigation, the council and Public Health England found 18 virus cases linked to the firm.

An inspection revealed a number of Covid-19 safety issues within the workplace.

However, following a subsequent inspection, Accident Injury Solicitors have been allowed to reopen the building after making the required improvements.

This business had carried out a deep clean and reduced the capacity in some communal areas.

On top of this, it had reviewed and updated its risk assessment, enhanced safety signage for staff, provided additional hand sanitiser and improved workplace access and exit arrangements.

Environmental Health Officers will continue to monitor the premises to ensure the business remains compliant.

With so much advice and support available from both the council and central government, there can be no excuse for breaking COVID-19 workplace regulations.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Environment Regulatory Services, Cllr Hilary Fairclough, said:

“Once again, a business has been forced to close its premises for a number of days when this could have been avoided by putting sensible precautions in place.

“With so much advice and support available from both the council and central government, there can be no excuse for breaking COVID-19 workplace regulations.

“I urge the public to keep letting us know about unsafe businesses and assure everyone that we simply will not tolerate those who put lives at risk.”

Authorities have formed a joint taskforce to enforce the coronavirus restrictions in the borough.
