Bolton Council has launched a powerful new social media campaign, Bolton Legends Foster, shining a spotlight on the everyday heroes.

The campaign highlights how the core skills people use in their professional lives, such as compassion, resilience, problem‑solving and patience, naturally translate into the role of a foster carer.

By celebrating these strengths, Bolton Legends Foster aims to show that many people already have the qualities needed to provide a nurturing, stable and supportive home for vulnerable children.

Featuring roles such as police and fire officers, breakdown mechanics, health visitors, community volunteers and other local ‘legends’, the campaign calls on those who have made a difference in their careers to become ‘legends in their living rooms’ by opening their homes to children who need care.

The council emphasises that its current foster carers already embody these legendary traits.

Every day, they demonstrate empathy, playfulness, acceptance and unwavering care, qualities that transform young lives and strengthen the community as a whole.

One Bolton foster carer shared their experience:
“You don’t realise how much of a difference you can make just by being yourself.

“The skills I used at work for years, like listening, staying calm and solving problems, are exactly the things the children in my care need most.

“Fostering has been the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done and it’s an honour to be part of their journey.”

The Bolton Legends Foster campaign is running across Facebook and Instagram.

Residents are encouraged to like, share and engage with the campaign to help spread awareness and inspire more people to explore fostering.
