Bolton proudly stands alongside communities worldwide in marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, running from 25 November to 10 December 2025.
This year’s theme, “UNiTE to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls” highlights the growing need to address abuse not only in physical spaces but also in the digital world, where technology is increasingly misused to harm and control.
The campaign begins on White Ribbon Day,25 November, coinciding with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and will feature a borough-wide social media campaign, distribution of White Ribbon materials, and a programme of events designed to raise awareness and inspire action.
Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Cllr Rabiya Jiva, said:
“As a community, we recognise that gender-based violence is not confined to physical spaces but increasingly manifests in digital environments, and this year’s theme reminds us that safeguarding dignity and equality requires vigilance both online and offline.
”By standing together, challenging harmful behaviours, and amplifying survivor voices, we can create a culture where respect and safety are the norm.
“I urge every resident to take part in these 16 days of activism, because every conversation, every pledge, and every act of solidarity brings us closer to a Bolton where abuse has no place.”
Bolton’s commitment to ending violence against women and girls is rooted in partnership, education, and empowerment.
To further support survivors, Bolton Survivors Forum will launch on 27 November, which will capture and amplify survivor voices to help shape local services.
Through continued engagement, participation and our community-wide training offer we aim to create lasting change that extends beyond these 16 days.
