A joint statement from the mayor and the group leader of Bolton Council, following the attack at Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester.
We share this short statement on behalf of the people of the borough of Bolton.
We send our love and heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz who lost their lives as a result of this violence.
We hope those others who were injured recover well.
We share our thoughts and prayers with all who worship at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue and all our Jewish community.
We were shocked and appalled at the violence that we witnessed yesterday and all the more as it happened on Yom Kippur, the holiest day for our Jewish community.
We live in a society where we cherish our freedom of speech and our ability to practice and worship our faiths freely. The attack yesterday reminds us all of our joint responsibility to stand steadfastly against hate and division where it challenges these freedoms.
