On 28 October, the Government announced that up to 20 million households in England will receive a £100 payment to help with energy costs this winter.
Many residents living in properties in Council Tax Bands A to D will be eligible for the payment.
If you pay your Council Tax by Direct Debit, the payment will be made directly into the bank account used for your Council Tax payments. Payments are expected to begin from January 2027. Please note that payments cannot be made or requested before this date.
The Government will provide local authorities with further guidance on how payments will be made to eligible residents who do not pay by Direct Debit, as well as those covered by relevant exemptions.
