Grants of up to £200 are available so community groups can thank their members and volunteers for all their hard work this year.

The funding comes thanks to a generous donation from MBDA and will be distributed by Bolton’s Fund.

During 2020, Bolton’s unrivalled voluntary sector has gone above and beyond in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the most vulnerable members of the community are supported.

As a thank you, Bolton’s Festive Fund will allow groups to bid for up to £200 to be spent on giving their members and volunteers a yuletide treat.

The funding can be used to purchase small gifts and activities that support people to connect with each other.

For example, dropping-off themed activity packs on people’s doorsteps, a local trail joining streets together with themed window dressings, or online parties.

The simple application form can be completed online and must be submitted by Monday, November 30.

Bolton’s Fund is a voluntary sector grants programme delivered by Bolton Council, NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Bolton at Home and Bolton CVS.

This has been an incredibly challenging year but our exceptional VCSE sector has risen to the challenge commendably.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, Cllr Nadim Muslim, said:

“This has been an incredibly challenging year but our exceptional VCSE sector has risen to the challenge commendably.

“I want to thank MBDA for this generous donation and I can think of no better way of using this funding than to provide a festive thank you to those who have worked so hard.”

Bolton CVS’s Interim Chief Executive, Helen Tomlinson, added:

“This year has been a difficult one for many people and communities across Bolton.

“To provide a little festive cheer to volunteers and members of our community, we are delighted to launch Bolton’s Fund ‘Festive Fund’ which is supported with a generous donation from MBDA.

“You might want to say a special thank you to your volunteers, maybe a small treat for individuals that need a boost or an end of year online party for your members.”
