Nominations are now open for the borough’s highest civic honour, which recognises deserving local heroes.
The tradition of awarding the Bolton Civic Medal was revived in 2024 to honour remarkable and hardworking people who go the extra mile to support their community.
Last year, four winners were selected in recognition of their outstanding achievement or distinguished service within the community.
They were Stephen Tonge, for his work with the Kearsley community, Khadija Patel, founder and lead of KRIMMZ Girls Youth Club, Ryan Yates, founder of Veterans Army CIC, for the support he gives to ex-service personnel and their families, and Jimmy Hark, a personal trainer, gym co-founder, and leader of Nob End Run Club.
Nominations for the 2026 recipients can be submitted via a simple online form by Friday October 23.
Alternatively, printed forms can be completed and sent to Mayors Office, Bolton Council, Town Hall, Bolton, BL1 1RU.

Nominees should have a meaningful connection to Bolton either through their birth, their life, or career.
Elected councillors and Bolton Council employees are not eligible to receive a medal.
Nominations will be put before a panel of judges including the mayor, the Chief Executive of Bolton Council, and councillors from all parties.
The Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Mohammed Iqbal, said:

“These medals are an important opportunity to honour people for the major contribution they make to life in the borough, and it is even more special that these nominations are chosen by the public.
“We are always overwhelmed by the volume and quality of nominations, and I am sure this year will be no exception.”
Recipients will be announced at the full council meeting on Wednesday November 25.
They will then be invited to a ceremony held by the mayor where they will each receive the official Bolton Civic Medal cast in bronze.
