Bolton Council has issued a stern reminder for people to use parks and green spaces properly over the bank holiday weekend.
It comes after people using BBQs and parking inconsiderately have caused damage, expense and significant inconvenience in recent weeks.
People using disposable BBQs in Mosses Gate Country Park have left picnic tables burned and grass dead and scorched.
BBQs also pose a risk of serious injury to children and young people, as well as a risk of accidental fires on grassed areas, wildlife habitats and areas being managed for pollination and biodiversity.
Meanwhile, people who have arrived at parks like Moses Gate to find the car parks full have instead been parking on grassed areas, causing tyre tracks and significant damage.
The council is urging people to leave their cars outside the park if necessary, while remaining considerate to local residents and avoiding blocking roads and access.
A spokesperson for Bolton Council said:
“With warm weather and sun expected over the weekend, we want everyone in Bolton to be able to experience the great outdoors including our many excellent parks and green spaces.
“We know that the vast majority of people enjoy the parks respectfully and responsibly.
“Unfortunately, it only takes a few inconsiderate people to cause real problems.
“We urge all visitors to help protect our parks by not using BBQs and fires, parking in the proper place, taking litter home or putting it in the bins provided, and respecting the natural environment.”
