Bolton Council is inviting residents to have their say on Bolton’s green spaces and their future.
The council is seeking feedback on the draft Green Spaces Strategy, which outlines the council's vision and objectives for its green spaces for the next 15 years.
The Green Spaces Strategy is part of Bolton Council's commitment to become carbon neutral and will help to support nature recovery by providing a framework to deliver protected, safe and accessible green spaces in the borough.
Green spaces include parks, playing fields, open spaces, woodland, allotments, and rivers.
Cllr Richard Silvester, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment, said:
“Green spaces are valuable community assets which benefit the health and wellbeing of everyone.
“Our plan is to ensure green spaces across the borough are accessible for all and rich in nature and wildlife, helping to further tackle the climate and ecological emergencies.”
“Our strategy is currently in draft form, and we encourage all residents to have their say by completing the survey. It will help to inform our final version of this document, and our vision for green space over the coming years.”
The strategy covers seven key themes with objectives to achieve by 2040.
The seven key themes are:
- Communities
- Biodiversity and Offsetting
- Local Nature Recovery
- Landscape, Culture and the Visitor Economy
- Ecosystem Services
- Health and Wellbeing
- Climate and Sustainability
The consultation will run from July 18 to August 29, 2025.
