Local theatre company Awkward Tree have been working with Bolton Library and Museum services over the past few months to create an accessible theatre offer for young people.

CamelotLocal theatre company Awkward Tree have been working with Bolton Library and Museum services over the past few months to create an accessible theatre offer for young people aged 14-18 in Bolton, funded by UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Ruth Welch, Director, said:

“We are passionate about creating opportunities for people to access high quality arts experiences without the expense, ensuring theatre is for everyone.”

The group has been hard at work co-creating an original production called Camelot Bound, collaborating with the Creature Character Creation Team who are part of Bolton Centre for Film FX, to create bespoke puppets, and Illustrator Jack Sedlan who designed the poster featuring some of the young actors. 

What’s the show about?

In a fascinating tale of chivalry and adventure, friends Sam and Charlie find themselves transported from their local bookshop into the magical world of knights, dragons and legendary tales.

Join them as the discover the secrets of the Round Table and fight to bring peace back to Camelot.

Saturday 2nd March 2pm & 7pm

Sun 3rd March 2pm

Bolton Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Cllr Nadeem Ayub, said:

“I am extremely passionate about creating new cultural opportunities for young people in Bolton.

“It’s essential that we make sure that experiences are accessible to all and the funding has been crucial in allowing us to do this.

“I am looking forward to watching the performance and would encourage everybody to get their free tickets and enjoy the show.”
