Westhoughton Library is temporarily closed for repairs, but residents can still take advantage of the home delivery and ordering services.

Work is required to fix the building’s heating system and the library will remain closed until the necessary work is carried out.

The Home Delivery Service will continue as normal and those who have been using the order and collect service will instead have their choice of books brought to their home.

Under Tier 4 restrictions, libraries across the borough are closed for browsing and study space with members of the public only permitted access for essential computer use.

Those who absolutely need to access a computer are asked to use an alternative library.

Bolton Council cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, Cllr Hilary Fairclough, said:

“We know how valuable local library services are to our local communities and this decision has not been taken lightly.

“Given the existing COVID restrictions on libraries, we believe it is the best interest of residents and staff to close the building temporarily while work is carried out.

“We have put measures in place to ensure people can still access the services they need and are working hard to reopen the building as soon as possible.”
