First and only female Chairman of Little Lever Urban District Council.

Born Edna Sennant.

Cotton weaver. She also worked as a Welfare Assistant for the School Meals Service at St Matthew's School.

Wife of John Mobey, Chairman of Little Lever Urban District Council 1943-44, 1952-53, 1958-59 and also served as the Chairman's Lady for those terms.

Represented Ladyshore Ward from 1954

When elected Chairman in 1961 she was described as the Number One Villager.

She was heavily involved in social work outside her Council duties, retiring in 1966 after 13 years as Secretary of Little Lever Old Age Pensioners Association.  She was also Vice Chairman of the Old People's Welfare Committee and of the Carnival Queen Committee.

In 1968 Edna and her husband John retired from the Council and were presented with a clock to mark 45 years service between them.

The Chairman's Lady was Mrs Hilda Greenwood.
