There are lots of opportunities for members of the public and councillors to volunteer in Bolton and we want to make sure that this is co-ordinated and safe – protecting both you and those most vulnerable in our community that you may be supporting.
Bolton Community Voluntary Services
Bolton CVS is helping us co-ordinate volunteering opportunities for people who are able and willing to support various services and activities during the time of the Coronavirus. If you are interested in becoming an Urgent Response Volunteer you can register online.

Urban Outreach
Bolton Council in partnership with Urban Outreach, need a large amount of particular types of food and other items for individuals and families in Bolton. To donate contact the foodbank at Unit 4 Trinity Retail Park Springfield, Bradford Street, BL2 1HY (former Staples Store) 01204 385848 or visit their website.
Foodbank Volunteering Opportunities are available to help with the huge task in putting together the food parcels ready to transport to communities across the town. If you want to help contact samuel.bagley@urbanoutreach.co.uk.
NHS volunteers
The NHS has temporarily paused the recruitment of Urgent Response Volunteers in order to process the first 750,000 applications.
The platform is now taking referrals from Health and local government professionals. These are:
- GPs / social prescribing link workers / practice nurses concerned about an at risk or vulnerable individual they have advised to self-isolate
- Hospital discharge teams
- Community pharmacists
- NHS 111 and ambulance trusts
- Community health trusts that need volunteer support for patients leaving hospital
- Local authorities

GMCA volunteering
Greater Manchester partners are working together to provide community support and advice to any residents who are struggling to access basic or essential services during the coronavirus outbreak. The Volunteering in Greater Manchester website can help you find local voluntary organisations who you can register your interest with. They will talk to you about what you could do and try to connect you with a suitable volunteering role in your community.
