Funeral service

Current arrangments until further notice

From 19 July, the lifting of the restrictions on social distancing and face coverings means that the Council has reverted to normal funeral service capacity in the Overdale Crematorium Chapels. Seated capacity in the West Chapel is 70 people and in the East Chapel, 50 people.

Although no longer mandatory, all mourners are advised to continue to wear face coverings in indoor enclosed settings like the Chapels for their own safety and the safety of others when meeting people you do not normally meet.

For grave side burial services, the existing government advice does not prescribe a limit on the maximum number of mourners permitted at the burial service. For your own safety and the safety of others, mourners are encouraged to continue to observe appropriate social distancing outdoors particularly when meeting people you don’t normally meet.
