Equipment for the Bolton Community to use

Bolton Council wants to support creative, community-led and delivered events.  We are therefore making available a number of items which can be used when hosting an event or activity.  These include items for both outdoor and indoor events.  These items can be viewed on our event infrastructure list and are provided free of charge.*  To submit a booking request please click on the ‘submit a booking request’ button below and this will take you to the booking form. 

*Before proceeding with your booking please read all the following information which covers certain stipulations around responsibility, usage and availability, plus information on collecting and returning the equipment.  We do not offer a delivery or collection service.  Please also review the terms and conditions.

1. At all times the safety of the event is the event organisers legal responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.  

2. No equipment is available during the following period of time:

  • Monday 4th May 2026 to Monday 11th May 2026;
  • Monday 17th August 2026 to Monday 7th September 2026.

3. Equipment will not be automatically reserved for repeat or annual events. A new booking request must be submitted for all events and equipment is booked out on a first come first served basis.

4. All equipment is likely to be in very high demand particularly during the Spring and Summer months and we already have a number of bookings in place.  Early booking is strongly recommended. 

5.There must be a minimum of 3 weeks between requesting the items and the event.

6. Once you submit a booking request you will receive an email notification.  This is not a confirmation of the booking.  We will check to see if the equipment you have requested is available and we will contact you within 10 working days.  If you are informed that some or all of the equipment you require is not available, this will likely be due to items already booked out by other Bolton Community Groups.  We do not have access to any more equipment other than the items listed.

7. You will need public liability insurance and possibly employer’s liability insurance cover for your event.
 

Collection and Return

As the user of the equipment, you are responsible for collecting and returning the equipment you are using.  Please do not underestimate how much space some of the equipment will take up in a vehicle.  Ensure you assess in advance the total size of the equipment you are using and provide appropriate transport to collect and return all equipment at once.  We do not have resource to keep opening/closing the unit and to be available all day for this purpose on the collection or return day.  We are unable to offer a delivery or collection service.

  • Items are available from the former Beales shop on Howell Croft North in Bolton town centre (opposite The Albert Halls and Sports Direct). There is a loading bay directly outside on Old Hall Street North.  What3words location is gear.hops.stuff
  • Collection can be arranged from 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday.  You will need to agree an exact day and time with us so we can ensure we have resource to open up the unit at the agreed time;
  • Returns are only possible between 9am – 4pm, Monday to Friday. You will need to agree an exact day and time with us so we can ensure we have resource to open up the unit at the agreed time.  If your event is being held during the evening or over a weekend, you will need to consider how you can securely store the items until you can return them to us;
  • Charges will apply for late return of equipment as described in the terms and conditions;
