The government has launched the new NHS Test and Trace service from today (Thursday 28 May).

Test and trace

If you have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms you need to isolate for 7 days and book a test. Your household should isolate for 14 days.

Remember the symptoms are:

  • a new continuous cough or
  • a high temperature or
  • a loss of or change in your normal sense of smell or taste

If you test positive then you will be asked who you have been in contact with.

Those contacts will then be told to isolate for 14 days (but your household doesn’t need to isolate).

If you are one of these contacts and then get symptoms you should book a test. Your household will be asked to self isolate for 14 days.

If your test is positive then you will also be asked for your contacts.
