New lawn mowers that will keep the borough’s parks looking tidier are a cut above.
They will be used to cut grass at parks across the borough, as well as grass verges and open spaces.
Executive Cabinet Member for Environmental Regulatory Services, Cllr Adele Warren, said: “This investment will make such a difference to our wonderful parks and open spaces and people who use them.
“The new mowers will help our team to maintain parks and grass areas more effectively.
“The machines provide an excellent finish and will get the job done quicker.”
A total of £1.5 million, funded from capital receipts, has been allocated to clean up the borough’s streets and parks.
Cllr Warren added: “We are committed to cleaning up our borough and improving our green spaces.
“Investing in front line delivery will make the town look more attractive and help to instil community pride.”
The funding will also pay for a raft of initiatives to help improve the environment including: new wildflower meadows; planting trees; new benches and bins in parks; a hot water power wash for removing graffiti; electric cleansing machines for the town centres, and continuing to support the voluntary sector improve their local environment.
