Tickets are now on sale for a series of special events taking place during Bolton Food and Drink Festival.

The annual festival, organised by Bolton Council in association with Aldi, will be held over the August Bank Holiday weekend (August 23 to 26) in Bolton town centre. Comedian and magician John Archer

On the Saturday, guests are guaranteed a magical evening as part of the always-popular Comedy and Burger Night.

Hosted by BAFTA winning comedian John Archer, diners will enjoy a sumptuous burger while watching a live cookery demonstration by top chefs.

Archer, a Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist, has been awarded the Magic Circle Stage Magician of the Year.

The evening will start at 6.30pm in the main festival marquee. Tickets are £20 and the show is for over-18s only.

Spirts will be high during this year’s Gin and Rum Festival, with two sessions planned on the Sunday evening.

The main marquee will be transformed into a giant bar where guests can sample more than 50 craft and artisan drinks and hear from the experts on all the latest drink trends.

Tickets for this over-18s only event are £15, and sessions will be held from 5pm to 7pm and again from 7pm to 9pm.

For those who want to know even more about their favourite drinks, then the festival’s first ever gin, rum and food paring masterclasses are a must.

Taking place in the “chefs’ kitchen” behind the main marquee, places are limited to just 20 people per session.

Classes offer the perfect way to learn how the spirits are crafted and includes some fabulous food that has been prepared using gin and rum.

Sessions include a taster menu and drinks and will be held on the Sunday from 4.30pm to 6pm and from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Tickets are £35 and include one hour free entry to the Gin and Rum Festival after the masterclass has finished (over-18s only).

Tickets for all the special events are available from www.boltonfoodanddrinkfestival.com.

Bolton Council Leader, Cllr David Greenhalgh, said: “The festival is one of the highlights of the year, bringing thousands of visitors to the area and showcasing the very best Bolton has to offer.

“With such a diverse range of events taking place across the weekend there is sure to be something to interest everyone.

“Tickets will be in high demand so I would urge everyone to book their place as soon as possible.”

Bolton Food and Drink Festival is now in its 14th year and is recognised as the biggest and best food festival in the north, with more than 274,000 visitors last year. The festival also won “Best Market Attraction” at the NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) British Market of the Year awards earlier this year.
