To mark the centenary of the end of the First World War, dozens of events will be taking place across the borough throughout November.

Nov 3, 11am-4pm: Blackrod Sports and Community Centre. Living history recreation of a First World War aid post.

Nov 3, 2pm-3pm: Blackrod Sports and Community Centre. Flanders to Fish, a play performed by On the Go Theatre Company. Free event, tickets available from the centre, Blackrod Library and Blackrod Methodist Church.

Nov 3, 7pm: Blackrod Sports and Community Centre. Concert featuring Wingate’s Brass Band. Tickets £5, includes pasty and pea supper.

Nov 4, 2pm-5pm: Blackrod Sports and Community Centre. Tea dance with refreshments served by Blackrod Brownies and Guides. Free event, tickets available from the centre, Blackrod Library and Blackrod Methodist Church.

Nov 5, 12pm: Blackrod Methodist Church. Luncheon club with First World War themed menu. Free event, tickets available from the church, Blackrod Library and Blackrod Sports and Community Centre.

Nov 6, 2pm: St Katharine’s Church, Blackrod. Film club showing Testament of Youth, afternoon tea served during the interval. Tickets £3, includes refreshment, contact Valerie Marron on 01204 456619 to book.

Nov 8, 7.30pm: Brookfield Hall, Westhoughton. Concert with Wingate’s Brass Band. Ticket £12 with proceeds to Mayor’s charities. Call Cllr Price on 07875 065 792.

Nov 10, 9am-3pm: Carnegie Hall, Westhoughton. Westhoughton Local History Group exhibition.

Nov 10, 10am-1pm: Horwich Heritage Centre. History exhibition, including the launch of a new book about Horwich during the war.

Nov 10, 2pm-4pm: Horwich Community Centre. Flanders to Fish, a play by the On the Go Theatre Company followed by songs from Horwich RMI Band and community choir.

Nov 10, 7.15pm: Albert Halls, Bolton. Remembrance concert led by Lancashire Artillery (Volunteers) Band. Tickets from quaytickets.com, £6.50 (proceeds to cadet and veteran organisations).
