Bolton is celebrating World Tourism Day on Sunday 27 September by showcasing the fantastic attractions, heritage, countryside, food and leisure experiences waiting to be discovered across the borough.
To mark the occasion, Visit Bolton is highlighting four brand-new pre-built itineraries, designed to make planning a day out in Bolton easier than ever.
The four unique itineraries offer ready-made inspiration for different types of visits, with two itineraries created for couples and two designed for families.
Each itinerary brings together a selection of places to visit, things to do and opportunities to eat, drink and relax, helping visitors make the most of their time in Bolton without having to plan their day from scratch.
Cllr Debbie Newall, Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Culture, said:
“World Tourism Day is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate everything that makes Bolton such a brilliant place to visit.
“We have an incredible variety of experiences right across the borough, from fascinating heritage and beautiful countryside to brilliant family attractions, shopping, leisure, food and drink.
“Our four new pre-built itineraries bring some of these experiences together and make it even easier to discover Bolton, whether you’re planning a family day out or looking for somewhere different to spend the day as a couple.
“Whether you’re visiting for the first time or you live locally and want to rediscover what’s on your doorstep, there is so much to experience in Bolton.”
Families looking for their next day out can discover attractions including Smithills Open Farm, Bolton Museum and Aquarium and Safari Falls Adventure Golf, while Market Place provides opportunity for shopping and more entertainment, including Amazonia and Game Vault within The Vaults.
For shopping, dining and leisure, visitors can explore Middlebrook Retail and Leisure Park, while those looking for something a little different can enjoy an experience with Poppywood Alpacas.
The borough also boasts an impressive heritage offer. Visitors can explore the historic surroundings of Le Mans Crescent, discover centuries of history at Smithills Hall and Estate, or experience some of the borough’s distinctive historic character at Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa.
For those wanting to escape into the outdoors, Bolton offers miles of beautiful countryside and green space. Turton and Entwistle Reservoir, Moses Gate Country Park and Jumbles Country Park are among the locations providing opportunities to walk, explore and enjoy Bolton’s natural landscape.
Together, these attractions highlight the variety visitors can experience across the borough, whether they are looking for a family adventure, a relaxing day for two, heritage and culture, outdoor exploration, shopping or leisure.
The four pre-built itineraries provide a simple way to turn that inspiration into a day out, with suggested places and experiences brought together to help visitors plan their time.
The itineraries form part of Visit Bolton’s work to showcase the breadth of the borough’s visitor offer and encourage people to explore more, stay longer and support local attractions, hospitality venues and businesses.
