Bolton is set to sparkle this season as the spectacular Christmas programme is unveiled.

From this evening, the town centre will sparkle with lighted decorations and glistening Christmas trees.

And from this weekend right up to the big day, residents and visitors can enjoy a packed programme of pantos, live shows, Santa’s grottos and artisan markets that promise something for everyone.      

A handy printed guide to Christmas in Bolton summarising all the events on offer is available to pick up in libraries, leisure centres, shops, garden centres and cafes.

Highlights include:

Pantomimes and live shows - enjoy the fun and laughter of a traditional pantomime, guaranteed to make the whole family smile. Albert Halls will play host to Tinkerbell and Captain Hook as The New Adventures of Peter Pan comes to town, while Belle takes to the stage at Victoria Halls for Beauty and the Beast. 

There are also several live shows taking place including Santa Live! at Albert Halls and A Christmas Carol and Mrs Claus Saves Christmas at the Octagon.  

Brass bands and music concerts will also play Christmas classics and get you in the festive spirit over at Victoria Halls.

Santa’s grottos and experiences - meet Father Christmas in his cosy grotto at venues including Bolton Market, Moss Bank Park and Smithills Farm. There are photo opportunities, gifts for the children and the chance to feast with Father Christmas at some venues. There is also the Mayor’s Christmas Fair at Albert Halls this Saturday, 6 December, where you can enjoy a festive atmosphere with live music, entertainment, and a selection of food and drinks to keep you warm and merry.

Artisan markets - Heaton Fold is hosting its Christmas market on Sunday, 14 December. Stalls will sell handmade gifts, Christmas decorations and festive food.

The ever-popular Makers Market is also back in town on Sunday, 14 December offering an array of handmade, thoughtful gifts, tasty treats and winter warmers.

So, head on down, support a small business and pick up some last minute gifts for your loved ones.
