Bolton’s network of Family Hubs is now complete, providing parents and young children with valuable support closer to where they live.
Oldham’s and Harvey Family Hubs held their official openings in recent weeks, meaning there are now eight centres available across the borough.
Hubs are designed as a place to share the joys and challenges of parenthood, equipping families with the knowledge, skills, and support to best care for their children, while also looking after their own health and wellbeing.
Each hub hosts a wide variety of events and services throughout the week covering wellbeing clinics, play sessions and reading groups as well as guidance on issues such as debt, welfare and housing.
The first hubs opened in 2023, and services have been designed with help and feedback from local parents.
Hubs are delivered in partnership by Bolton Council, Greater Manchester Mental Health and Bolton NHS Foundation Trusts, Bolton Together, Bolton Community and Voluntary Service and other community organisations.
The full network of hubs now includes:
- Alexandra Family Hub - Blackledge Street BL3 4BL
- Bright Meadows Family Hub - Greenroyd Avenue BL2 5DD
- Farnworth Family Hub - King Street BL4 7AP
- Great Lever Family Hub - Leonard Street BL3 3AP
- Harvey Family Hub - Shaw Street BL3 6HU
- Oldhams Family Hub - Forfar Street BL1 6RN
- Oxford Grove Family Hub - Shepherd Cross Street BL1 3BH
- Tonge Family Hub - Starkie Road BL2 2ED
With the full network now open, new services will start to move into the Family Hubs, providing bespoke local support to Bolton families.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Martin Donaghy said:
“Every child in Bolton deserves the best possible start in life, and our network of Family Hubs are playing a vital role in achieving this.
“So many families have already benefited from the support, advice and sense of community available at their local hub.
“I would urge any new or expectant parents to find out more about the wide range of services available.”
