Bolton Market will celebrate the first anniversary of its Food Hall this weekend on Saturday 7 June with a festive, family-fun day.
Marking a significant milestone in the town's ongoing regeneration, the celebration coincides with the world’s biggest IRONKIDS, which will feature a dedicated Family Fun Zone at Elizabeth Park, located directly opposite the Food Hall.
Bolton Market Food Hall’s birthday party will be held from 11am, with entertainment from 12 noon to 3pm and will feature live music, a children’s entertainer, fun games, and giveaways, as well as lots of global cuisines and sweet desserts on offer, along with a bar that serves alcohol, coffee, and soft drinks.
The event aims to bring together residents and visitors to celebrate the town's progress and the vibrant community spirit, as well as provide a platform for a diverse range of traders to showcase their culinary talents; one such trader, Emily Leung of Sweet Drinks & Desserts Place said:
“Opening up at Bolton Market Food Hall has been an exciting journey for us, and we’ve loved serving Bolton and the wider community for coming up to a year now, time has flown!
“We can’t wait to celebrate the first anniversary, it’s going to be a fantastic family-friendly day for the town, with so much going on, including IRONKIDS!”
Across the street on Elizabeth Park, there will also be face painting, crafts, and a climbing wall for children in the Family Fun Zone as part of the IRONKIDS Bolton event, which sees thousands of young athletes racing through Bolton town centre.
Since its opening on 7 June 2024, the Bolton Market Food Hall has become a vibrant destination for food enthusiasts.
The £5.9 million transformation, supported by the government's Towns Fund, has brought together a diverse range of cuisines, including Japanese, Caribbean, Indian, Italian, and Hainanese, alongside a bar operated by The Bolton Gin Company.
The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, accommodating up to 200 guests, and features live entertainment, enhancing the town's night-time economy.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Culture, Cllr Nadeem Ayub said:
“It’s a testament to the town’s hard work and resilience to mark this anniversary along with the success of our regeneration efforts across the borough.
“It’s great to see everything coming together, even the new Elizabeth Park being utilised for fantastic events like this, as well as Bolton Food and Drink Festival.
“We look forward to a brilliant family-fun day on Bolton Market Food Hall’s first birthday, and with IRONKIDS on the same day, the town will really come alive - one not to be missed.”
