A series of free community events will promote opportunities for people in Bolton to improve their health and wellbeing.

Active commuities events posterOrganised by Bolton Council’s Public Health team, four local Active Lives events are being held across the borough and will be open to everyone.

Each event will feature free healthy food and refreshments, bike assessments and basic repairs, kids’ arts and crafts, health checks, local activity providers, health walks, volunteer opportunities, discounts, and giveaways.

There will also be the chance for residents to give their views on what they would like to see in their local community.

The aim is to create an environment where people are more active in their daily lives, which in turn will improve health and resilience across communities.

This will increase both physical and emotional wellbeing, improve life chances and employability, decrease dependence on health and social care services and support prosperity.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Cllr Susan Baines, said:

“We want Bolton to be a vibrant place built on strong connected communities with healthy, engaged residents.

“A healthy and active population is key, and we want the health and wellbeing of people in Bolton to be as good as anywhere in Greater Manchester.

“We have lots on offer across the town and I would urge everybody to come along and take advantage of the local activity and support available.”
