Construction of the new King’s Leadership Academy Bolton school, part of Great Schools Trust, commenced this summer, the progress of the new build was marked with a ceremony to sign the steel frame.
Students from the local primary school, Lever Edge Primary Academy, a local feeder school for King’s Bolton, and existing students from King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, were invited to visit the site and sign their names on the steel frame.
Students joined the Galliford Try construction team and dignitaries from Great Schools Trust and Bolton Council for a site tour and a chance to leave their mark on the new build. The new school is expected to open in September 2023 and will have a range of facilities including full-size football and rugby pitches, a cricket pitch and running track and state-of-the-art classrooms.
David Crosby, founding Principal at King’s Leadership Academy Bolton, commented:
“Staff, students and parents have spent the last three years building a successful culture and we are delighted to develop this further in our new school.
“The building has been designed with some amazing facilities for our students which we welcome all people from across Bolton to enjoy.
“This is an exciting time in education for the Bolton community and we are looking forward to the next phase of our journey.”
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Cllr Anne Galloway, said:
“It was a pleasure to attend the steel signing ceremony and to see the progress that has been made in the construction of the new King’s Leadership Academy building.
“As a council, one of our priorities is to ensure families across the borough have a wide choice of quality schools to choose from.
“King’s Leadership Academy Bolton already provides a high standard of education, and I am sure they will go from strength to strength once the school moves to its permanent facility.”
