After the recent success of the Bolton Community Champions programme, the team are now ready to launch a new look, a new website and a new way of working.

Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, the programme was originally designed so communities could get important information from trusted local voices.

Since then, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the champions, the programme has gone from strength to strength and is ready to continue into a new chapter – supporting residents to live healthier and happier lives.

Displaying a fresh new brand, the new website will be home to social media style profiles of the champions themselves, a map where residents can find their local champion and contact them for support, and a behind the scenes area where champions can network.

This will all be hosted on the new Let’s Keep Bolton Moving website.

Developed by Bolton Council and partners, and co-designed with champions and local groups, this new platform aims to give an open door to residents to find the advice and support they need.

It is often easier for people to talk to a friend or somebody who lives close to them and this gives local people the option to talk about their concerns and get help when needed.

Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Wellbeing, Cllr Susan Baines, said:

“The local volunteers in Bolton who signed up to become community champions, worked hard during the COVID-19 pandemic to keep our residents safe.

“Over the last year, they have strived to make a positive difference in their respective areas.

“I would urge anyone who has a passion to help people in their community to consider becoming a community champion.

“You will need to have a positive outlook and a "can-do" attitude to signpost and inspire others in need."
