Bolton’s famous IRONMAN UK event returns on Sunday July 3.

This year’s cycling route has changed slightly for the IRONMAN race. This means that some roads near where you live may be closed for a time on that day.

Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr Martyn Cox said: “This year's changed route means temporary road closures for the first time in the Smithills area.

“There are also some amended timings to the route through Heaton, Lostock, Bolton town centre, Tonge and Breightmet.

“Bradshaw, Bromley Cross and Horwich will see less of the course this year, but it will be passing close by!”.

For more information on the course and how you can travel around the road closures, visit the IRONMAN website and click on Traffic Impact.

You can find maps showing the road closures on the IRONMAN website.

There is a road access hotline open now and throughout the race weekend: 03330 11 66 00.

You can also email uk@ironmanroadaccess.com for more information. Please note this address is not monitored on race day.
