The weekend saw a wealth of wonderful festive fun in the town centre, but there is still more to come as Bolton’s Countdown to Christmas continues.

The Festive Bar and traditional Christmas Markets saw some brisk business over the Big Weekend, as shoppers grabbed some last-minute gifts and stocking fillers for the big day.

Visitors were also delighted by a spectacular light show with a specially commissioned ‘Night Owls’ display projected onto the town hall.

The festivities continue as shoppers can continue to enjoy the town centre bar and fairground rides right up until Christmas Eve.

The Games Zone in the former Hays Travel unit, the Craft Zone in the former Specsavers unit and Santa’s Studio will also stay open until December 24.

All of this year's Christmas activities have been designed to be COVID secure.

Anyone attending a Christmas event this year is asked to take a rapid home COVID test before visiting the town centre.

This year’s Christmas events are supported by the council’s partners The Bolton Gin Company, Robertson Facilities Management, Bolton Arena, Step-Places, The Octagon Theatre, The University of Bolton, Bolton School and Bolton’s Community Champions.

A spokesperson for the University of Bolton said: “We are delighted to partner with Bolton Council tor the Countdown to Christmas.

“The University is firmly embedded in the local community, and we are proud to support this fantastic festive initiative.”

Bolton School, added: “Bolton School is delighted to partner with the local council and the Countdown to Christmas festivities.

“Hopefully the project will bring some joy, light and fun to the town during these difficult days.”
