A church service and full civic funeral for former Bolton Mayor and Honorary Alderman Peter Finch will be held on Wednesday, December 1.

The funeral cortege will leave Mr Finch’s home in Westhoughton at around 10am and make its way up Market Street, pausing outside Westhoughton Town Hall.

It will then travel to Bolton Town Hall, pausing outside the arches of Le Mans Crescent at 10.25am.

A service will be held at Bolton parish Church at 10.45am before a committal service at Overdale West Chapel at 12noon.

Everyone is welcome to attend the services, and to gather afterwards at Westhoughton Social Club in Park Road.

Mr Finch, who passed away aged 84 after a short illness, served as Mayor of Bolton in 1998/99 and as Mayor of Westhoughton Town in 1986/87.

The flag on Bolton Town Hall will remain at half-mast until dusk on the day of the funeral.
