Drivers are reminded of changes to town centre parking fees from next week as the COVID-19 support scheme comes to an end.

At the start of the pandemic, Bolton Council introduced a free parking offer to boost town centre footfall and support local businesses.

The offer, which included 2 hours of free weekday parking in on-street bays, multi-storeys and Ashburner Street car park, is set to end on Monday, July 19.

The offer was initially set to end in November 2020 but was extended further to support businesses struggling during the pandemic.

Free weekend and Bank Holiday car parking at Octagon, Topp Way, and Deane Road NCP multi-storeys will also come to an end from next week.

Bolton Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Martyn Cox, said:

“This council always backs local businesses and these parking offers have played a key role in bringing more people into the town centre.

“While this offer is coming to an end, we have a number of initiatives in place as we work to create a vibrant town centre and help the economic recovery.”
