Bolton Council are currently updating Bolton's Serious Violence Strategy and would like to hear your views.
Whether or not you have been directly affected by serious violence, your experiences and perceptions will help us understand local concerns, identify emerging issues and shape future priorities (2027 - 2030).
What is a serious violent crime?
Serious violence includes incidents that cause, or are likely to cause, significant physical, emotional or psychological harm. This may include violence involving weapons, serious assaults, domestic abuse, sexual violence, exploitation and violence linked to criminal activity.
What we've done during the last strategy period?
Since our last Serious Violence Consultation in 2023, partners across Bolton have continued to invest in preventing violence before it happens. This has included mentoring and support for children, young people and families, education and awareness programmes, community outreach and diversionary activities, support for victims and survivors, targeted enforcement against those involved in violence and exploitation, and environmental improvements to make local areas safer.
What are the future priorities being proposed?
The Serious Violence Strategy (2027-2030) proposes three themes as priority work areas for the partnership to prevent and reduce serious violence. These are:
- Safer Places and Spaces (A focus on geographical areas and communities where violent incidents happen more often than in surrounding areas).
- Gender based violence (including domestic abuse, stalking and harassment).
- Serious Youth Violence (violence affecting children and young people).
