Description

Bolton Council is making improvements to public spaces and the walking and cycling network in the town centre. The improvements aim to promote connectivity and enhance walking, cycling and driving experiences for residents within Bolton Town Centre and the Queens Park and Central, and Halliwell areas, as well as increasing connectivity to their surrounding hubs.

About the scheme

The proposals are being funded through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) fund, which is given to city regions to help reach sustainable transport goals.

This phase of work aims to build on Bolton Town Centre East ‘Phase One’ improvements, which we consulted on in November 2020 and will be constructed in 2026 – you can read more about Phase One of this scheme here.

These proposals for ‘Phase Two’ encompass a number of walking and cycling improvements in Bolton Town Centre which will link with the Phase One improvements and other links leading from the town centre. This is with the aim of creating safer, quieter and more accessible routes for pedestrians and cyclists and enhancing active travel connectivity in Bolton.
