Bolton Council is making improvements to public spaces and the walking and cycling network in the Doffcocker area. These improvements aim to promote connectivity and enhance walking, cycling and driving experiences for residents within Bolton Town Centre and the Queens Park and Central, Smithills, and Heaton, Lostock and Chew Moor areas as well as increasing connectivity to their neighbouring areas.
About the scheme
The proposals are being funded through the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) fund, which is given to city regions to help reach sustainable transport goals.
This phase of work aims to build on Doffcocker to Town Centre East ‘Phase One’ improvements, which we consulted on in November 2021 and will be constructed in 2026 – you can read more about Phase One of this scheme here.
These proposals for ‘Phase Two’ encompass a number of walking and cycling improvements in Doffcocker which will link with the Phase One improvements and on towards Bolton town centre. This is with the aim of creating safer, quieter and more accessible routes for pedestrians and cyclists and enhancing active travel connectivity in Bolton.
