In his inauguration speech as Chairman of the UDC he said that Little Lever was entering into a large programme of expansion. Private enterprise was taking place more then ever before but the Council was not content to leave the development to private developers.

Leader of the Labour Party in Little Lever.

Member of the Weavers Union Committee, the Old Peoples Welfare Committee and the Divisional Health Committee for Bolton.

His hobby was old time dancing.

His cousin, Laraine Robinson, was Chairman's Lady. Then aged 20, she was the youngest ever to take on the role in Little Lever.
