About

In his last speech as Chairman in May 1956 he outlined some of the Council's accomplishments.

"The Council had done their best to alleviate atmospheric pollution and also tried to prevent the proposal for open cast mining on both sides of Stopes Road. Building the child welfare clinic would begin in the near future and that the new tennis courts were well used. The erection of the King George Memorial Gates at the entrance to Mytham Road playing fields were a decided improvement."
