His uncle was Thomas Glaister, Mayor of Bolton 1949-50.

His Great uncle was Knowles Edge, Mayor of Bolton 1916-18.

Joined the family business - D Constantine & Son Ltd (Bleachers and Dyers) - in Ainsworth as a departmental manager on the death of his father in 1938.

He enlisted in the RAF on 19 February 1941 and saw service as a JNCO MT driver with No 9 Pilots Advanced Flying Unit - Hullavington, No 84 Group - Avening Court and Oxford, No1 Heavy Glider Service Unit in Hurn, Normandy and Netheravon. He was discharged in August 1946.

He then returned to D Constantine & Son Ltd which around 1964 became Red Bridge Book Cloth Company Ltd (Cotton Finishers). He became a director of the company which in due course was broken up into smaller units - his own part established in the original croft of the bleachworks as Admel International Ltd. It later became the Conort Trading Company Ltd (from Constantine Cort) making tracing cloth and glazed hollands.

He was a very keen Rotarian and strong supporter of the Conservative Party.

Although his education was cut short by his father's death he became widely read, had a passion for history and enjoyed travelling in classical Europe and the Mediterranean. In later years his summers were spent in the Lake District.
