British Sign Language (BSL) users can now use SignLive to contact Bolton Council.

Bolton Council delivers a wide variety of services to its residents. We have teamed up with Sign Live to make these services more accessible to our Deaf and hard of hearing hearing impaired customers.

SignLive is a free service that will connect you to a qualified online BSL interpreter. The interpreter will relay the conversation between you and a member of our contact centre team.

If this is your first time using the service you’ll need to complete a one-time registration. Once logged in, you can contact Bolton Council for free, through the Community Directory by tapping on Bolton Council and then ‘Call’.

Our opening times are Mon to Friday 8am to 5.30pm – depending on the nature of your call we will transfer you to the relevant person or department – if the person is unavailable – we will email them with your contact details and instructions of how to contact you via SignLive. Otherwise we will deal with your query there and then or in some cases arrange to call you back at a time convenient for you. This may be because we are very busy and don’t want to keep you waiting unnecessarily.
