Order a marriage certificate
We can only provide certificates for marriages and civil partnerships that were registered from 1837 to date in Bolton, Farnworth, Little Lever, Blackrod, Westhoughton and Horwich.
To order a certificate you will need to tell us:
- the full names of the bride and groom
- the date of the marriage
If you are researching family history, wherever possible, it will help if you try to provide additional information.
Certificates cost £10 and are posted second class the next working day.
Certificates can be processed the same day as priority applications for a cost of £20.
If you are applying for certificates for a very recent marriage or civil partnership then different fees may apply. Please contact us if the marriage or civil partnership took place within the last few months for advice.
If you are applying from overseas, payment needs to made in sterling drawn on an British bank account or an international money order. We will try as far as possible to deal with applications as soon as they are received.
If we are unable to find the certificate we will return your payment.
